The Recreio area is set on the outer skirts of the Rio de Janeiro city, 40-60 minutes down the coast from Ipanema and Copacabana and easily accessable by local buses.
Getting to Rio Surf n Stay by Plane / Bus / Van / Foot:
- From Novo Rio Bus Station: Take the Bus linea amarela # 315 -Recreio, or a white van to Praia do Recreio. Duration of bus ride: 1hr from station
ï€ - From Copacabana, Ipanema, Leblon, Botafogo, Flamengo, Centro: Take Bus 360 – Recreio or a white van to Praia do Recreio. Duration of bus ride: 1-2hr from the city center.
When you arrive to the town of Recreio you will see the beach. The bus will go along the main beach street Estrada do Pontal and will then turn off this main road heading to Terreirao. Get off on this bus stop now this road is called Rua Guiomar de Novaes (Rua seis W). Then follow our directions from Estrada do Pontal by foot, noted below.
ï€ – From the Airports (GIG) and (SDU): Get the “Real” bus to Barra Shopping via “Linha Amarela” ($10.00 reais). Duration of bus ride: 1hr 30 min.
Get off at Barra Shopping and take another bus to Recreio (702,703, or 360 Recreio). When you arrive to the town of Recreio you will see the beach. The bus will go along the main beach street called Estrada do Pontal. When the bus turns off this main road, heading to Terreirao, you get off on this bus stop now this road is called Rua Guiomar Novaes (Rua seis W). Then follow our directions from Estrada do Pontal by foot, noted below.
Directions by foot from the main beach road in Recreio, Estrada do Pontal : 3 minute walk
1 -Walk to the main road Estrada do Pontal (the main street parallel to the beach)
2- Go in the direction south, towards reserved beach Prainha.
3 – Reference point: La plage Apartments should be on your left and on the opposite side of the road.
4 – Walk until the next street on your right, called Rua Oito W, A point of reference is a surf shop called Udo Bastos on the corner.
5 – Then turn right on the dirt road and walk to the first road going to your right ( Rua Raimundo Veras).
6 – Rio Surf n Stay is the second house on the left # 1140. Press the doorbell to enter.
