The Surf Camp concept was created especially for people who want an intensive training routine on how to surf, or just want to go surfing every day with a guide or on their own, with unlimited use of equipment.
The Surf Camp packages have been developed to include accommodation with surfing, in a way to meet the needs of each customer. Giving special set deals for you to be able to enjoy the time you have with the right equipment and knowledge you need, to then get the best out of each moment of your limited days you have to surf at the wonderful beaches of Rio. We want it to be easy, efficient and fun, so travelers can leave our place with an experience of a life time.
A typical day at the Surf n Stay starts with a nice Brazilian style breakfast with a surf video going on the TV. After this everyone is stoked to get in the water, so once everyone is greased up with sun cream and our surf van loaded with boards, we cruise on to find our wave of the day.
The chosen spot will be according to the group level. For beginners a small, easy rolling wave is the best choice to get you up and riding. For the intermediate, our instructors will look for fun sized waves with good formation, so you can ride to progress on the green waves out the back. For the more advanced surfers it’s likely you will be in another car going to find bigger waves at nearby beaches, though it’s your choice if you want to stay with the lesson group.
All classes begin with stretching and warm up, so you learn good ways to improve balance and strength. Now a deeply explained lesson begins with demonstrations on the surfboard, where you’ll learn the basic techniques. To get you going, all body movements and techniques demonstrated by the instructor will be repeated by the students to help you feel comfortable with what’s just been explained. This prepares the students to get in the water and control the board in the waves, paddle out and stand up. Before getting in the water our instructor also describes the surf conditions by pointing out the sand bar you will be surfing and any rip currents, so students can be familiar with what is happening in the water.
Once the surf session is over, we get back to the surf camp to have lunch. Then it’s up to you whether you want to get to know the area or hang out in the hammocks and sofas in the garden, before taking off for an afternoon sunset session with your chosen board. Then come back and enjoy our bar, before heading off with the others for a night out partying in Recreio, Barra, Lapa or Ipanema.
